Our products are handmade with intention, aroha, and respect for the natural materials we use. To help your taonga last as long as possible, please follow the care instructions below.

1. Soap Care Instructions
Our soaps are handcrafted in small batches using natural ingredients. Proper care helps your soap last longer and stay in beautiful condition.
How to Care for Your Soap
- Store your soap in a cool, dry place before use.
- Allow your soap to dry fully between uses.
- Use a draining soap dish to prevent it sitting in water.
- Avoid leaving soap in the direct shower stream.
- Keep away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Use within 12 months of purchase for best quality.
- For sensitive skin, perform a patch test before full use.
Important Notes
- Natural colour fading over time is normal.
- Handmade variations in colour, scent, and texture are expected.
- Not suitable for broken or irritated skin.
- Customers are responsible for checking ingredients for allergies.

2. Bath Salts Care Instructions
Our kawakawa and botanical bath salts are designed to relax muscles and soothe the body.
How to Use
- Add 2–4 tablespoons to warm bath water.
- Allow salts to dissolve before entering the bath.
- For foot soaks, use 1–2 tablespoons.
How to Store
- Keep the pouch sealed tightly between uses.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture.
- Do not use wet hands to scoop salts.
- Avoid getting water inside the pouch to prevent clumping.
Important Notes
- Avoid contact with eyes.
- Not suitable for broken skin.
- If pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a healthcare provider before use.
- Patch testing is recommended for sensitive skin.
- Ahi Kānara is not responsible for allergic reactions.

3. Candle Care Instructions
Our candles are handcrafted using high‑quality wax and fragrance oils. Proper care ensures a safe, clean burn.
Before Lighting
- Trim the wick to 5mm before each burn.
- Place the candle on a heat‑resistant, stable surface.
- Keep away from drafts, curtains, and flammable items.
While Burning
- Allow the candle to burn until the melt pool reaches the edges (prevents tunnelling).
- Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time to prevent overheating.
- Keep the wick centred for an even burn.
- Never leave a candle unattended.
- Keep away from children and pets.
After Burning
- Extinguish using a snuffer or by dipping the wick into the wax.
- Never use water to extinguish a candle.
- Stop burning when 1cm of wax remains.
- Allow the candle to cool completely before moving.
Important Notes
- Frosting or slight colour changes are normal in natural wax candles.
- Ahi Kānara is not responsible for damage caused by misuse or unsafe burning practices.

4. Resin Jewellery Care Instructions
Each resin taonga is handmade and unique. Resin is durable but needs gentle care.
How to Care for Your Resin Jewellery
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
- Store pieces separately to avoid scratches.
- Remove before swimming, showering, or exercising.
- Avoid contact with perfume, oils, lotions, hairspray, and chemicals.
- Do not submerge resin jewellery in water.
- Avoid leaving resin in hot cars or near heat sources.
- Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth.
- Do not use ultrasonic cleaners.
Important Notes
- Small bubbles, colour variations, and natural imperfections are normal.
- Resin may yellow if exposed to prolonged sunlight or heat.
- Dropping or bending the jewelry can cause cracks or breakage.
- Warranty may be void if care instructions are not followed.

5. General Safety & Storage Tips
- Keep all products out of reach of children and pets.
- Store handmade items away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight.
- Follow all usage instructions on product labels.
- Handmade items may vary slightly from piece to piece - this is part of their beauty.
